Vomitory
Vomitory is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989 by guitarist Urban Gustafsson and bassist Ronnie Olson. The band originally began as a three-piece including drummer Tobias Gustafsson and later expanded its lineup with additional members. Vomitory has released nine studio albums, all issued through Metal Blade Records. After disbanding in 2013, the group briefly reunited for a one-off performance in 2017 before officially reforming in 2018.
The band formed in 1989 and initially operated as a trio consisting of Urban Gustafsson, Ronnie Olson, and Tobias Gustafsson. They were later joined by bassist Bengt Sund, with Olson taking over vocal duties, and guitarist Ulf Dalegren joined in 1991. After releasing early demos, Vomitory issued the single "Moribund" through Witchhunt Records. The band continued to develop their sound and line-up, with Thomas Bergqvist later replacing Sund on bass.
Vomitory released their debut album "Raped in Their Own Blood" through Fadeless Records. Prior to their second album, vocalist Jussi Linna and bassist Erik Rundqvist replaced Olson and Bergqvist. The second album, "Redemption", was released in the United States via Pavement Music. Following this, the band signed with Metal Blade Records.
Under Metal Blade Records, Vomitory released "Revelation Nausea" in 2001 and "Blood Rapture" in 2002. The band continued with "Primal Massacre" in 2004, after which guitarist Ulf Dalegren left and was replaced by Peter Östlund. Subsequent albums included "Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize" in 2007, "Carnage Euphoria" in 2009, and "Opus Mortis VIII" in 2011.
In 2013, Vomitory announced that they would disband, performing their final concert on 27 December 2013. Following the split, members Erik Rundqvist and Tobias Gustafsson formed the band Cut Up.
In 2018, Vomitory announced their reformation after previously reuniting for a one-off performance in 2017. The band marked their 30th anniversary in 2019 and resumed touring activities after a pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2023, Vomitory announced their first studio album in 12 years, "All Heads Are Gonna Roll", which was released on 26 May 2023. A follow-up album, "In Death Throes", was released on 10 April 2026.
